Painful life experiences can have lasting negative impacts

“I don’t trust my own judgement. I don’t trust others”

“I’m constantly on edge. I get set off easily”

“I’m not good enough”

“I have to be perfect. I can’t be myself”

Is Trauma Therapy right for you?

How is your life going now?  Are you excited about life and looking toward challenges?

Or, is your past weighing you?  Are you able to work efficiently, or do you find yourself getting distracted easily?

By looking at ourselves deeply in a safe environment, we can uncover why we feel stuck and unable to perform our everyday activities.  Reprocessing difficult moments with an expert allows us to leave our troubles behind and focus on a new and brighter future.

Are you trying to make peace with your past?  Are you having trouble getting out of bed?  Do you feel as though you aren’t measuring up?

Ready to free yourself of past traumas or issues you are facing? Wanting a new beginning or change of pace and not knowing how to get there or whom to talk to?

Feeling that something within your life is out of place is not uncommon.  Being stuck in the past and unable to fully understand it keeps you in a perpetual place of sadness and anger. You are confused and unable to think about the future because of the emotions surrounding your past.  I know how you feel and was there once too.  The first step is to talk about your feelings and look at the issues in front of you.

Welcome to Trauma Therapy!

I’m Charlie, and I can help.  I am a Psychotherapist, EMDR trauma specialist, executive therapist & coach, veteran, husband, and father.  I have been there too, trying to plan my future, how to get there, and what to do next. As a veteran, having experienced the psychological toll caused by active duty, I understand the core elements of trauma and how to move beyond them, using this experience to better our lives rather than weigh us down—it’s called post-traumatic growth. On top of that, many problems stem from our childhood and we aren’t always aware of it until a professional points it out.

I specialize in trauma therapy for veterans, adults, and teens in the LA Southbay community. People come to me to help them solve real issues involving trauma. First, I like to get to know you, the person, to recognize the problem.  We will then explore your past, reprocessing those moments that keep you up at night to help you understand them better and move beyond the nervous energy created by traumatic memories.  Once we get the hard moments out, we can put that new space to construct a future goals ladder based on your interests.  I’ll walk you through the steps in a meaningful, fun way.

Common questions about EMDR trauma therapy

  • Yes, all sessions are private and confidential. However, if you state that you want to harm yourself or others, then I will notify your parents or guardians and authorities based on state law.

  • Most therapies do not have a set time length. Usually, treatment will last at least three to six months if you attend once a week. Some problems resolve very quickly. Others are more complex and take longer. For some issues, you might be in therapy for a year. Even though therapy can take a long time, you should notice fast progress when doing EMDR because it is designed to be a rapid reprocessing technique to provide quick relief when it is most needed.

Standard sessions are 50 minutes but our reprocessing EMDR with bilateral stimulation sessions are booked at a 100 minute extended time interval

  • It is normal to feel awkward when talking about traumatic moments. The uncomfortable feeling means that you are trying something new. As you get used to meeting with your therapist, you should gain confidence and begin to dive deeper into the past traumatic moments giving you hardship. Once you build trust with your therapist, we can conduct EMDR sessions. These sessions can feel very emotional, but they will help you reprocess traumatic memories.
