Therapy for teens

In-person in Redondo Beach and online throughout California

Trying to find yourself?  Comparing yourself to your freinds?  Feeling as though you aren’t meeting your parents’ expectations?

Ready to free yourself of past traumas or issues? Wanting a new beginning or change of pace and not knowing how to get there or whom to talk to?

Feeling something is out of place is common for teens.  Your life is moving forward at light speed.  Fears about the future are on your mind.   It’s difficult to see the big picture when you’re just getting started.  I know how you feel and have been there too.  The first step is to talk about your feelings and address the issues in front of you.

Welcome to Teen Therapy!

I’m Charlie, and I can help.  I am a psychotherapist, EMDR specialist, executive therapist & coach, veteran, husband, and father.  I have been where you are—trying to plan my future, what school to go to, how to get there, and what to do next.  On top of this, many unresolved problems are carried forward from childhood.  I specialize in therapy for teens residing in the LA Southbay community.  Teens come to me to help them solve issues involving childhood trauma, self-esteem, social anxiety, relationships, school–life balance, and more.

First, I like to get to know you as a person to understand the problem.  Together, we’ll build a future goals ladder based on your interests, and I’ll be there to walk you through the steps in a meaningful, fun way.

Common questions about therapy for teens:

  • Yes, all sessions with teens are private and confidential. However, if you state that you want to harm yourself or others, then I will notify your parents or guardians and authorities based on state law protection.

  • Most therapies do not have a set time length. Usually, therapy will last at least three to six months if you attend once a week. Some problems resolve quickly, while others are more complex and take longer. For some issues, you might be in therapy for a year. Even though therapy can take a long time, you should notice progress quickly.

  • It is normal to feel awkward talking about sensitive things. The uncomfortable feeling means that you are trying something new. As you get used to meeting with your therapist, you will gain confidence in speaking about personal topics.

It is possible to improve your life.

You can change how you view yourself and interact with friends and family.  You can prepare yourself for a bright future.
